Writing Competition Time!

Calling all writers and film-makers!!! Here are four interesting competitions coming up in 2015. They are a good opportunity to represent your school and possibly win some prizes!!!

  • Fighting Words Writing Competition: If you fancy having your writing published by The Irish Times you could submit a short fiction essay, monologue, script or a poem into this competition!

 

Max word count: 1,500 words.

Submit to: [email protected]

Deadline: Wednesday 22nd January 2015 at 5.00pm.

 

  • Drugs.ie National Youth Awards 2015: To be in with a chance of winning 2,000e or an iPad mini, you should create a short video clip, audio clip, news article or poster on one of the following themes:

-          The effects of Alcohol on the Family.

-          The effect of drugs on mental health.

Submit to: www.drugs.ie/awards

Deadline: Monday 16th February 2015.

 

  • Show Racism the Red Card: Short films, visual and written pieces (articles, poems etc.) can be submitted to this competition on the theme of Racism.

 

Deadline: March 2015.

  • Trinity College Senior Cycle Essay Competition: Senior cycle RE students can submit an essay to be in with the chance of having their writing published in the Loyala Institute Newsletter. Essay topics:

-          Imagine you are a secretary to Pope Francis. Compose, for him, his tweets to families at Christmas. Explain the thinking behind this tweet.

-          A recent tweet from Pope Francis reads, 'Indifference towards those in need in not acceptable for a Christian.' What are your thoughts on this?

 

Word Count: 500-750 words.
