3rd Year 2020/2021

Congratulations to all our 3rd Year students on completing their Junior Cycle in the college. After two very challenging years for all students they can finally relax and enjoy the summer holidays.

I must commend all students for their hard work and dedication to their studies over the past number of months. Following the announcement made by the Minister of Education in late January, informing the nation that the Junior Cycle State Examinations were cancelled, I'm sure this created a sigh of relief. However, as the school decided to award an End of Year Junior Cycle Completion Certificate, students continued to engage and work hard even completing their mock exams online.

In the final term of school, there have been a number of memorable events for our 3rd Year students. Firstly, Sport Day took place in a very different style this year. Students were involved in 100m sprints, Long Jump, Shot Put, Rowing and Sack Race and Penalties. Well done to all those who participated in all the events and in particular those who received medals. A number of 3rd Year students also competed in an All Ireland School Quiz. Congratulations to those boys, who came in the top 10 out of hundreds of schools in Ireland.

In the last few weeks students completed their end of year exams and had an information session about Transition Year. Students also completed a workshop on “ Other Areas of Learning” for their Junior Cycle. On the End of Year Certificates students will also see their involvement in school activities other than academics. This is something that is very important for students to reach their full potential in all aspects of their development.

To finish off the year an award ceremony was held to acknowledge all of the achievements throughout the year. There were awards for each subject area and also two very prestigious awards; the Outstanding Student and the Spirit of Salle award. Congratulations to all of our Award Winners.

On a final note I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Leigh and Ms. Carey, on behalf of the boys, for their hard work, support and dedication for the last 3 years. I wish you all the best as you embark on a new journey into transition year, enjoy the summer, stay safe and we will see you on your return in August.

Ms. AM Jordan (Year Head, 3rd Year)
