East Leinster Track and Field
Well done to all the students who took part in the East Leinster Track and Field Championships at Morton Stadium in Santry last week.
In particular, huge congratulations to Dmitri Griffin in 5th year who took the bronze medal in the Senior Boys 5,000m. It was a very tight race between 2nd, 3rd and 4th and Dmitri finished strong in an impressive time of 17.35. He will now represent the school in the Leinster Championships on Saturday 19th May. Dmitri also had a great race in the Senior Boys 1,500m, finishing 4th, just missing out on Leinster qualification.
There were also successes in other races with 1st years (Elliot Looney, Atilla Szalai, Luke Condon and Conor Rochford) qualifying out of their heat in the Minor Boys 4x100m relay. They took 5th place in the final. Elliot also finished 5th in the Minor boys 500m, a large and competitive race.
The Finlay brothers were once again representing the school. Both Jake and Tadgh racing 800m, with Tadgh finishing 5th in the Junior Boys race. Finally, Gerrard McTague (6th year) represented the school for the last time in the Senior Boys 1500m, after several years of training and competing in both cross-country and track for De la Salle.
